Kemi is a visual artist working primarily with clay. At the core of her artistic practice is an exploration of home and place—where memory, identity, and experience converge.

Whether creating homeware or sculptural art pieces, her practice is rooted in her desire to map the journey of belonging. As a first-generation daughter who grew up in the Midwestern United States, she collages her experiences by stitching together scenes and stories, documenting for self-validation, connection, and preservation of truth.

Shaped by her work in community development and placemaking, she is fascinated by the transformation of space into place. This manifests in her depiction of architecture, seating, landscape, and signage—details that spark nostalgia and signal human presence and impact, yet are often overlooked. Through her multidisciplinary approach, she invites viewers to consider how we shape and are shaped by the environments we inhabit. Her work is both an archive and a call to recognize the quiet significance of everyday spaces.

Kemi currently teaches at Gasworks NYC and works as a fabricator and technician at Powerhouse Arts. She was a 2025 Studio Potter grant recipient and a 2024 Public Ceramics fellow. She holds an MA in Design: Expanded Practice from Goldsmiths University of London, and a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Minnesota.
